Like everything in life timing is everything and my first novel entitled El Güero is no different. A work that began some 17 years ago when I first put pen to paper resulted in a half page. I didn't seriously begin the novel until 2012 when I began formulating what my minds eye saw.
Inspired by some true life events El Güero wouldn't be the novel it is today had I written it back then. Patience, timing and experiencing more of what life had in store for me led me to arranging my thoughts for what turned out to be more than one novel. My process was simply to write as much down on paper as possible and when it came time to formulate my writings into book form, I would then construct the technical aspects. With no shortage of material I found myself with enough substance for 2 novels even as book one runs more than 370 pages.
My goal was to create an experience for readers to enjoy, relate to, feel passionate about, react to and ponder on.
Most of us are on a journey, whether we realize it or not. The ending we probably won't realize, making the material that takes place between the beginning and the end so very crucial. Even as the chapters in your life aren't revealed yet, continue to write them. A sound plan and vision will guide you through as preparation and timing take over.
